My name is Jasleen Zelaya and I was born in California. When I was just 4 years old, I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. I lived in Las Vegas for 8 years before I moved to Guam. Being a military brat and staying in one place for a long period of time is very rare. I was lucky enough to stay at one elementary school for grades k-5. It made life easier for me. I was able to make friends and for the most part, keep them. When I was told that we were moving to Guam, I wasn’t upset. I was kind of happy and ready to explore a new place. Once I started school this school year, things went downhill. I am so shy and as a result, I have a hard time making friends. It took at least a month for me to make one friend. And even now in the 4th quarter, the last quarter of the school year I have about three friends. This shows how hard it can be for a military kid to adjust to new situations. I have no idea what is in store for me in the future, but I know that I can now overcome anything that comes my way.
