A military child, that's who I am My life is not like others, it's a different plan Moving from place to place, it's what we do From one duty station to another, it's always something new We are a part of a community, tight-knit and strong Growing up around men and women in uniform, it's where we belong Watching them go to war, it's never easy to bear But we support them with pride, knowing they're out there We learn to be resilient, adaptable and brave Seeing our parents sacrifice, we're taught how to behave We know the cost of freedom and its worth Proudly standing beside them, we belong to this earth The memories we make are countless, the memories that shine From the base housing, the commissary, the school we defined We take with us the lessons, the bonds, the love Being a military child, a gift from above.
