Dandelions

I pulled my suitcase out of the trunk and when I was about to enter the airport, I looked to my right and saw thousands of dandelions waving goodbye to the travelers. It gave me a thought about how us military kids are akin to the white dandelions. When someone blows the seeds we fly and travel in the air and once we land, that is our destination to regrow and repeat all over again. That person who blows the dandelion is the one who gives us orders where our new home is. Wait… Where is home? Where is my final stopping point? The dandelion is happy being surrounded by its other dandelion friends. Why cant the dandelions be there for each other forever? Why does it have to leave its friends and memories? I stopped overthinking and continued to walk and enter the airport. I turned my head back and thought again… Is this really it? Now? I turned my head back again and to my parents yelling at me to hurry up and I ran to be boarded onto the plane. I sat down by the window seat and through the window, I watched the dispersed seeds of the dandelion waving goodbye and kissing the sunset goodbye to be tucked in bed for night to come. When we took off, I shed a tear and remembered all the good memories I had over three years. My mom told me it is for the best… I told her thats what they always say. But is it really for the best tho?
