I’m going to tell you what it’s like being a military child. Sometimes, it’s not easy. Sometimes it’s lots of fun! It’s ups and downs. I get to experience different cultures. You get to move to different places. Now I’m living in Japan! I love trying different foods and places of interest. Learning about all the different cultures is fun! Like how Japanese culture has Hina Matsuri which is a girl’s day. I get to try different types of food. Moving to different places means trying hundreds of new things. I like to taste in foods. Military kids have certain privileges. We can even go on trips over holidays. A lot of people can’t do that. Exploring the world is what military kids get to do! Whether or not it’s traveling or moving, we have our ways of exploring and seeing new places. Having a parent in the military means they must leave. When our parents get deployed, they go on the ship for a while, and it is sad and scary. There is an upside of their deployment. When it’s time for mom or dad to go, and you miss them a lot, think of the positives. Sure, your parents are in Australia and you're somewhere else in the world, they get to bring back some souvenirs when they get home. They can tell you what other places are like. For example, if you are a military kid who only lives in warm places and has never seen snow before it will be so cool to get to see a video of snow that their deployed parent took?
