What I enjoy the most about having a military family of my own, is being able relate to some of the experiences my son will have. The moves, starting over, making new friends, and getting acclimated to a new area are things I am all too familiar with being that I was a military child myself. Both of my parents served in the Army, so friends often became family when distance kept us apart from our own. Of course, I won’t be able to relate to everything my son might experience, like being born in Tokyo, but I hope my husband and I are able to build a community just as strong as my parents did to help raise our son as we continue our dual military service.
