2023/Aaliyah -

My name is Aaliyah. Most of my life I lived in Hawaii. I thought that I would live there for the rest of my life. Until my dad was offered a job in Okinawa Japan and my mom wanted to live somewhere in Japan but I didn’t want to go.

I didn't want to leave my friends behind.

When I first got to Okinawa, I thought it was the same as Hawaii because most of the days were warm and sometimes hot. We had to stay in a hotel for 3 months since we haven’t bought a house yet so it would take a while.

On February 4, Friday was my first day of school. When I got there, I got a little of a tour around the school. I was in 4th grade at the time. When I got to my class, I was scared that I wouldn’t fit in with my classmates and it would be hard for me to make new friends. But after knowing my classmates and my teacher a bit more I started to be more comfortable. I also made a few friends.

The next day when my family got an apartment. I found out that one of my classmates goes to the same bus stop as me. We started hanging out more and made more friends.

I’m glad that I moved to Okinawa because things have gotten better and easier for me.
