Kadena Elementary School
My dad serves in the U.S. Air Force. As a military child, I could travel to different parts of the world. My family and I have been to Greece, France, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, and the United States. These trips were enjoyable, especially spending time with my family. As I am still in Okinawa, Japan, there are still things to see that are familiar to me. The Kadena Air Force Base has tanks, jets, forklifts, and many more. Another thing I realize is that they serve many different events. These events include Halloween, Tinseltown, Easter Egg Hunt, and the 4th of July. Also, the base offers Commissary, where people buy groceries, and Base Exchange. In this big store, people eat food and buy necessary items. Being in the military, I experienced my mom working in the Naval Hospital while she took care of the Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines, dependents, and civilian personnel. In first grade, I told my best friends I would leave and go to a different country and school. It is sad because it is part of being in the military when my dad got stationed here in Okinawa, Japan, for over four years. When my friends PCS, I can still chat with them on Gmail. This is just like a routine. Every time my parents must deploy, it doesn’t matter where I go. You are still part of the military.
