One of the best things about being a military child is the experiences you have that nobody else does. Most kids don’t get to live in Japan, or see jets up close. The best part about living in Japan is that we get to still live in our own little piece of America. We go to an American school and shop at the commissary and the MCX, but when we go off base, it is a whole new country. So even though we’re so far away from home, I can still enjoy activities I did in the United States. Living in Japan and viewing a country so different from mine has also given me a new perspective on life. Japan has such a rich history, and it is interesting to see it up close. However, moving so much is definitely problematic. But it has taught me to not hold on to possessions because experiences are so much more important.
