M.C. Perry High School
My name is Jordin Knight. I’m in 9th grade and I’m 15 years old. I was born in Oklahoma, but I consider Virginia my home. Being a military child can be hard sometimes, but it can also be fun. The first time I was old enough to realize that we were going to make a big move was when my family moved to Florida. I loved it. It was always sunny. I loved my school, the beaches, and the pool. Then one day the news that we were moving to Japan came out; I cried, and I told my parents I didn't want to go. Despite everything, I tried to look at the bright side. I actually started to get excited. Now that I’m here, I feel lucky because I have freedom and there are so many resources. I also get to travel for sports and travel around the world seeing World Heritage Sites. While the sacrifices I have had to make as a military child are sometimes very sad, now that I go to school with other military kids, they understand me and the experiences that I have had like losing friends or being away from family for a long period of time. Most kids these days don't get the same opportunities most military kids have therefore I am very thankful that my dad is in the military.
