To me, being a Military child is about hardships and leaving friends. Even though I don’t like moving, I know my Dad’s job is important. I also like being a military child because I get to tell everyone how many places I’ve lived. I like being a military child because I get to meet lots of friends in many places. One thing I do not like at all about being a Military child is how many houses I’ve lived in.
Something new that’s difficult started only when I moved to Japan. All my friends are moving away from me. I lived in California for my whole life until I moved to Japan. I lived off base so I was always the one moving away from my friends. This is the hardest part of being a Military kid, always leaving friends and changing schools.
I know it’s okay to be mad that I’m always on the move, but I want to be strong. I don’t want to cry or think about it. Being a military kid has shown me that I’m stronger than I think. It’s kind of cool to be a Military kid but it’s also really hard. Sometimes it’s hard to show a hard front and be resilient, but it’s kind of what we have to do.
