Military Child Opinion Writing

Being a military child is challenging. There are positive aspects of growing up as a military child. However, military life can be incredibly hard; military children often feel the effects of the separations and the relocations. Another reason is even if they move to another country or state, they only stay there for two or five years unless they’re a registered citizen. As well as overcoming adversity seems to be a central theme for military children.

Although being a military child is difficult because of traveling, parents say that “Eventually all kids adjust”. However it takes a lot of work for a military child to rebuild confidence into meeting new people, since they already made friends from where they were before. Even some parents report that their children matured too fast than their peers due to military life. Others say military children are independent, adventuresome and fierce. These kids understand what it means to follow something bigger than themselves and their family. In conclusion, military children face challenges in everyday lives. They understand the hardships their mom or dad face in the military.
