Yokota Middle School
“Y'all wanna hike Mt. Fuji”, my dad asked as we ate dinner.
We all said yes because why not, it would be cool because most kids don’t get that opportunity since we were in Japan because my dad is in the military. It was September of 6th grade my first time in middle school and it was an hour drive. My dad had planned to hike Mt. Fuji when he found out that we were going to move to Japan. So technically we didn’t have a choice, but we were so excited. As we hiked Mt. Fuji my legs kept getting so tired it felt like I ran a 10 hour marathon and we took so many breaks. I went to the bathroom at one stop and after that we continued to hike but the next part was harder because we were going uphill on rocks. After we made it I wanted to take a picture so I reached to get my phone and realized it was gone. I had to climb all the way down the rocks and when I got to the bathroom it wasn’t there and I started to cry as I went back up the rocks. I told my dad and he wasn’t mad, in fact he told me a story about how he broke his tablet he just got and I felt better. We continued till we got to the top and it was so cold it felt like I took an ice bath. After we ate ramen, we went back down. I loved this adventure and to these people reading it maybe you'll try hiking Mt. Fuji.
