Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a military child overseas? My experience of being a military child overseas has its own adventures. Some of them are being able to travel to places that normally would be seen in books and on tv, learning about different cultures around me, and trying new foods.
Being able to travel to places that normally would be seen in books and on tv has been like being in a book or on tv. The Sagrada Familia which has been standing for 142 years. The beauty and the structure of the inside seems to be coming to life. The 140 years of construction was worth it all. The outside may seem plain and boring but if you look closely you can see all the delicate designs the architect has made and on the inside you feel like you are in a children’s book. Vibrant colors beaming across the building, the beautiful windows causing the pillars to look like they were painted in rainbows.
Learning about different cultures around me has always fascinated me. Being overseas allows me to learn about different cultures all over Europe. Like how the Germans usually have fries, sausages, and fried meat for dinner. The people who live in England always carry umbrellas wherever they go. The Greeks have several different gods that they worship or believe in which makes their culture extra interesting. Eating frogs and snails is part of France’s culture, although it may seem gross and weird to us, it is a normal thing in France to be eating frogs or snails.
The foods around me are delicious and all unique in their own ways. The croissants in France are freshly baked and have a smooth texture that allows me to swallow easily. The beautiful baked egg tarts in Portugal are made carefully by Portuguese chefs. In Spain I ate delicious sugary churros with a side of hot chocolate when it was cold. When I went camping in Switzerland I had some Swedish chocolate on the way home. There were many beautiful sights to see in all these places but the delicious treats made the trips even more enjoyable.
My experience of being a military child overseas has exciting adventures. Some of them are being able to travel to places that normally would be seen in books and on tv, learning about different cultures around me, and trying new foods. Before I would only eat things I have already eaten and only did things I was familiar with, being a military child overseas opened my eyes.
