My name is Luis Marcos. I currently live in Naples, Italy. My Mommy is in the Army. My Daddy is from Spain I just turned two years old this year. I'm very lucky. Last year was very difficult for me and my family. During Christmas time in Spain, I became very sick from a disease called COVID-19. I suffered a rare complication that made me stay in the hospital for a long time. I had to live at the hospital with my mommy and daddy for many weeks until I felt better. I had to receive a lot of medical treatments that hurt a lot. Mommy and Daddy were always with me when the nurses had to take my blood, give me medicine, or when I had to receive blood transfusions. Even when I finished my stay at the hospital, I still felt very weak, I had to stay home for a long time and go to the hospital for weekly tests. Later, after more months, I began to feel much better. I did not need more shots or pokes in my arm. By the summertime, I fully recovered and I could go swimming with the other children at the pool. I thank my family for supporting me, and staying strong with me when I had to take more time to learn how to walk and say my first words. I love my Mommy and Daddy very much. Now that I am 2 years old, I love playing with my friends at the Naples Child Development Center. There I learn different social skills I did not have before. My message to other little children like me who are faced with difficult situations is to be brave when going through something difficult. It is ok to cry. It is ok to take longer to learn something. Enjoy every moment with Mommy, Daddy and family, as much as possible. They will always love you no matter what.
