The Fun Side of a Military Life

My name is Michaela. There are five of us siblings. I have 3 sisters. One sister is my big sister. Then I’m next. I have a 6-year-old sister and a three-year sister. I have one brother. He is 11 years old. I love giving my family hugs and going places with them. I have a dog. My dog's name is Luna, and she is nice to people. I noticed that in class, we have a library. I like to read. I try to make everyone happy. Sometimes they are sad when we have to move away. My friends were also sad when I had to move to Japan. I tried very hard to make friends. I learn to fit in by making friends. My house here now is nicer. I used to live in America. Now I live in Japan. I like America, because they speak English there. I want to go back to the Philippines, because I forgot how it looks there. One time, I waited 10 days for my Dad to come home to me.

My dad’s name is Joshua. He is 33 years old. He is from Jacksonville, Florida. My Dad has 2 Brothers and 1 sister. My Dad is the building manager of the barracks. He has 5 amazing children. He likes to play basketball, have Game Night with my brothers and sisters, and go to the gym. One of our family’s traditions is Friday Night Movie Night. My Dad’s favorite foods are barbecue chicken, pizza, cheesecake, and sweet tea. He really likes spending time with his children and watching TV.

What he likes about the Navy is that he has job security, the mechanical benefits, and being able to travel. He said that moving is hard, but if you manage yourself, you’ll be prepared. His friends were upset and very emotional when he told them that he had to move. My Dad’s friends support him by giving him a helping hand, and they laugh and have fun together. My Dad says that he likes going to different countries for little to no cost. My Dad and his friends like to go to the beach, to go kayaking, and to go shopping together. It was difficult for my Dad to find friends at first, due to his command not having a lot of people.

My Dad loves the Japan Zoo called Bio Park. He likes the monkey area and being able to pet and feed the animals. My Dad says that the five of us are growing so fast! It's amazing to see how we learn and pick up new things.
