The Life and Times of a Military Kid

Have you ever wished you could eat subway for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? If you said yes, you just passed your first test and you might make a good military kid.

Keep reading and I will tell you everything about the life and times of a military kid. But, before you move forward, you have to agree to at least 3 things on this list:

1. Leave your friends and most favorite cactus.

2. Visit your grandparents.

3. Be prepared to start over.

4. Eat subway. A lot.

At first, leaving your friends and cactus behind doesn’t seem so bad. You tell yourself that you’ll write to each other. Unfortunately, cacti don’t make reliable penpals. Did I mention, you have to eat out a lot?

Visiting family sounds exciting because your grandparents want to spoil you and buy you lots of toys. But, you only have one suitcase and it’s already full.

Hear that crumple noise, that’s the sound of you opening another subway sandwich.

If you want to be a military kid, you have to be prepared to sacrifice space in your suitcase and prepare to start over. A lot.

Can I give you some advice? If you want to know what it’s like to be a military kid, you have to learn some special skills like how to leave friends, how to visit family without overstuffing a suitcase, and how to start over and over and over. P.S. Subway isn’t that bad, the first 27 times.
