Military Child

Being a military child is fun and sad because you move a lot which means leaving your friends. It can be fun because you go to new countries, sometimes continents. Being a military child is fun because you go to new schools and make new friends. I don’t like being a military child because I had to move away from my family in Hawaii.

When I was seven my mom and dad told me we were moving to Japan. I wasn't happy because that meant I would have to leave my cousins and uncles, aunts, and grandma. I didn't have a choice. In the future I'm probably gonna move to Germany.

The great thing about being a military child is you even get your own month of the military child and sometimes you get coupons for free snacks. I like being a military child because you can do lots of stuff that other people can’t like, like our rent gets paid. The fun part is there are a lot of festivals that are literally a walk away. Other places are like a 30 minute drive to see a festival, but it is always on the base you live on.

The downside about being a military child is you have to use an ID for everything like buying snacks. Not because they’re for adults, it's just required and that makes it less fun. The military also has designated times for kids to be outside and stay also to stay inside. It's only two hours and that's not a lot of time. The military also makes lots of weird rules like when it rains a little they shutdown the festival. Some examples are when it sprinkled on Zama they shut down the festival and we had to wait until next year.

There are ups and downs of being a military connected child and I enjoy being one.
