Look, ever since I found out I was a military kid, nothing’s changed too much. Really one of the only differences from a military kid's life, and a normal life, is that you get to hear all these stories about battles during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and even the midnight chow, where soldiers get chicken wings every Friday. I was born one day. I knew nothing. Come to think of it, I didn’t know I was a military kid until one day in like first grade. And that’s when I started hearing the stories. Deployments were rough times. Every time my dad had to go fight in wars, I could picture him. Putting on armor, doing push-ups, strapping a gun to his back. Sometimes I worried he’d never come back. But our family was all born with the courage to keep moving forward. Dad made it.
