I Am a Military Child

It's a difficult experience to be a military child to me because I have to move away from friends, my parents go on deployment, and many, many, many others. I have some examples. One is the day when my dad got deployed to Yokota AB. He had to stay there for three days. It was hard on my mom because she had to do all the work for nearly a week, and she had a tight schedule! I was bummed because me and him usually play fun games together. Another time is when my mom had to stay in the US for her medical boards. She had to be there for 6 months! I was really sad because she is really fun to have around. During the half year, me, my dad, and my sister moved here. It was hot at the time, and we didn’t go outside a lot. Finally, later in November, my mom came here. By that time I was already here. That is why it’s a difficult experience to be a military child.

It’s an amazing experience to be a military child because I can make new friends, go to new places, grow up in different environments, and many, many, many others. One place is here! At school I have my best friends, Paige, Finley, Olivia, Lia, Ciara, Lily, Daniel, Ballack, Sofia, and others! And at my home base I have Henry, Neo, Max, Harris, Steven, Rye, Robert, Isah, and others! That is 40 friends total! So when one friend isn’t there, I have 39 more to play with! And I love it! It is the thing that comes naturally with being good at making friends! Also there is food like ramen, soba, tempura, and others! The Japanese also have an amazing culture and they are so nice to us! That is why it’s an amazing experience to be a military child.
