One sunny evening, I was leaving the best summer camp I’ve ever attended in my life! We had water days, played with water balloons, and went to the pool. We also went to Power Palace, which had games like Pac-Man and Among Us. But my favorite part of camp was the arcade where we played claw games, air hockey, and got tickets to exchange for prizes at the front desk. That same evening, my mom and dad picked me and my sister up to go to the airport to fly to Okinawa, Japan. I felt both scared and excited at the same time. I had never left the country before, so everything felt new and a little intimidating. Going through customs was an experience all on its own! Next, we had to wait for our plane to arrive. It didn't take too long, maybe about an hour. We then boarded the plane; I was very nervous but sitting next to my dad and my sister made me feel safer. It was a very long flight, but we made it fun by playing games and watching movies together. After what felt like forever, we finally landed and found a place to eat. I can't remember exactly what we had, but it was delicious and helped me feel more at home in this new place. Being a military child means having big adventures, like moving to Okinawa. Even though it's hard to leave friends and familiar places, I get to see and do things most kids only dream about. I'm learning that every new place brings exciting experiences and new friends.
