Surviving Long Travel Rides

One of the downsides to being a military child are the long, excruciating airplane or car rides. They are extremely boring especially when you don’t have your stuff! But, there is a way to put those 12-10,000 hours to good use.

On the road you have traffic, uncomfortable seats, possibly annoying family members. And the worst part is you can’t escape them! On an airplane there is turbulence, sometimes no entertainment, and worst of all, annoying passengers and crying little kids. It’s even worse if you get motion sickness. Also, most times you can’t leave your seat. Even though all these things seem like they are going to prevent you from having fun there’s still loads you can do!

The seats might be uncomfortable, but if you have a pillow or blanket you can take a well deserved rest. You could also do something creative such as write, draw or crochet/knit. If you don’t know how, it's never too late to learn a new skill! Another way to entertain yourself is reading that book you bought two years ago that you still haven’t read yet. Doing some school work would also be a good idea. Now on your next trip or move you have some entertainment ideas.
