2024/Renier -

Where I’m From Inspired by George Ella Lyon

I am from The Land of the Free

From the lone star ranches and oil

I am from the Land of the Brave under the country of maple syrup

BBQ, juicy brisket, it tasted like liquid gold

I am from the Sooner State

The Land of Route 66

Whose oily fried food I remember

As if they were my own.

I am from Gather of Info and Stay- at-Home

From fireman and knitter

I’m from the nuclear engineer and the builder of homes

From the land of the red bud and place of the rose

I’m from the place of bluebonnets

With a great BBQ

And ten herds of cows I can see myself.

I’m from the land of beef and the Alamo

Rodeos and oil.

From the place of Big Ben lost

To President JFK

Used to keep me up at night.

Under my bed was a purple glow

Spilling bravery and

a flow of freedom

To drift beneath my dreams

I am from those moments

of learning before I was here

allowed me to be fallen dandelion of the free.
