Life As A Military Connected Child

By Aleksas S.

Hi, I’m Aleksas, I would like to tell you all about how I became a military connected child. If you don’t know, This month is the month of the military child, it’s all about celebrating military children. The symbol of military children is the Dandelion, it symbolizes that we can grow and sprout anywhere. Being a military child proves that you are different from others, it also shows how special you are too!

First, I lived in Vermont in Jericho, my dad worked at the Vermont National Guard. He worked as a pilot , first flying F-16s and then flying F-35s. It went really well until one day my dad needed brain surgery. After the surgery he was fine, though he couldn’t fly jets and he needed to earn money, so he tried to find work in the military where he didn’t have to fly jets. Next thing you know I would be moving to Ramstein Air Base. I was not happy at all, I was so upset that I had to leave my friends. So, when we moved we had to wait for moving supplies in summer. When I started school, I was very nervous. But, after two years of school, I was fine. I'm now happy that I have friends and good teachers. This is how I turned into a military connected child.

Now I can tell you about what being a military connected student is about.

Being a military child is all about accepting who you are. Moving is only a part of it actually, when you are a military child it actually is better than you think. You may think that moving all over is the worst because you miss your friends and you get all this work, but it’s a lot more fun. You get to learn different things and you get to eat different foods, also you get to meet new friends. Military children get special things too. They get to have advanced academics, fun activities, and many more! Trust me, being a military child isn’t something to be sad about, you should be proud of it!(•‿•) You should all be happy that you were born as military children, it’s great that you are a military child.
