2024/Alex-

Month of the Military Child

Did you know my life is never in the same place? Yes, it’s true literally and figuratively. Being a military kid has shaped me into the person I am today because I am tough, resilient, and flexible.

When I first became a military kid, it was hard. My first military move was also hard. I had to leave all my friends behind, and that was, like, TOUGH. Now, I am too.

When I was moving to Okinawa, we were stuck in the airport for 3 DAYS!!! Every morning in those three days, we woke up at the hotel at midnight just to wait ten hours and come back! It was so aggravating… Then, when we finally got on the plane the ride was loooong. Very long. A very, very long sleep-deprived night of nonstop angry birds and hearing things that aren’t actually there. For all that, oh, look! I now have some real resilience! Wow!

When I started school in Okinawa, I had a pretty nice teacher. Her name was Ms. Miller. We were in 4th grade, and our schedule WOULDN’T STOP CHANGING!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, Ms Miller would keep telling us we were super flexible.

To conclude, being a military kid is cool, but it takes some SERIOUS guts.
