My experience as a military child

Have you ever wondered what a military child is like? Well, from my experience it’s mixed with many adventures and traveling. As a military child, you get to experience many different cultures or languages, traveling, and friends.

One of the hardest parts about moving is leaving your best friends behind. From my experiences, it’s hard to leave someone that's been your best friend since you met them. When I was in Germany, it was my first day of school and I met 2 friends that I didn’t want to leave after 3 years. Even though I had to leave them, I will always remember them.

Learning new cultures and languages is an opportunity. When I moved to Okinawa, I had no idea what everyone was saying and I was frustrated. When I went into school, I had a culture class and learned how to say Good morning, Good afternoon, and Thank you. Eventually in culture, I learned what they do on New Years Eve and learned their manners.

Traveling is also the frustrating part of traveling because you have to get tickets and find your way around the airport to get to your gate. From my experience on our way to Okinawa, we had to get our tickets before we head to our gate and we had to wait in a long line. That made me tired and annoyed.

As a military child, my adventure is mixed with many adventures. Leaving friends, learning languages, and traveling may be hard, but I am glad to be going to many places. Overall, my experience as a military child has been an opportunity. I am proud to be a military child.
