Military child

Being a military child is stressful. It can be amazing but a lot of people don't see the hard side to it.

I can't interact with distant family because of time zones and the long distance. That can make me feel like I don't belong in my own family, always catching up on new relationships or new children.

Also, my social skills have suffered. Moving means leaving friends which can cause children to stop reaching out and when you don't socialize you get bad at it. And it can be hard being lonely all the time but too scared to reach out just because you or your friend will leave. The looming moving date can be like a dark cloud over my relationships.

It has also made me incredibly independent. Like I said above, no friends to help with your problems so you learn to solve them on your own. I guess that can be a good thing though. It makes it hard to trust people over small things like returning something to you or making plans.

The military has shaped me into many good things, but all good things have downsides and these are my main issues with being a military child.
