Leaving friends is like a falling star, But only we know how great we truly are. Even if we cannot see all it is for us to truly be, I love this life as much as others, but I can't stand being away from my brothers. I thank the Lord for these days, And hope my dad can come and pray.
The warmth will always be worthwhile, Even if I cannot see their smile. There are a lot of sacrifices that they’re making, And I know the risks that they’re taking. Even though I have cried a lot, That image of us in the caverns always mends that spot.
Yes, it hurts that he’ll miss Christmas, But I know he will miss us. I know you’ve been trained and you work really hard, But all will be great when you are on guard. Most don't understand until they hear it is true, And then there is no undoing what they must do. These words of a military child, Are a testament to their strength and their style. For they know the pain of leaving behind, But their love and resilience will always shine.
