Being a military kid is both hard and a little easy. The pros of being a military kid are that you can see different countries and US states. When I was five,I went to Abu Dhabi and lived there until I turned eleven. During my time in Abu Dhabi,I learned Arabic, the national language, and visited Dubai. Dubai isn’t the capital of Abu Dhabi, but rather the other way around. You can learn different languages, religions, different types of cultures, and the way people live when you move around. After Abu Dhabi,I went to Belgium. Belgium is way more different than Abu Dhabi in many ways. The food isn’t better but it’s good. The friends I made here are good friends, almost as close to me as my other friends in previous places. Traveling from Abu Dhabi to Belgium only took six hours and fifty-five minutes.
The negatives of being a military kid is the fact that you’re leaving behind friends and family. When I left Abu Dhabi after twelve or eleven years of being there,I left behind my friends and my best friend. I was sad, yes, but I made new friends. Also, whenever mom gets a new job offer and she accepts it,we have to move. All the time. Whenever I make new friends, mom gets a new job and we leave. Sure,I hate it,but I can’t do anything about it. Before Belgium or Abu Dhabi,I lived in Florida. Florida has all my past memories in different forms, such as pictures, videos, storytelling, etc. The older generations in the house remember things from when I was younger and often tell me. I hate that I have to leave them behind and only visit them once a year, which happens in the summertime. I know that they hate it,too. Being a military kid is cool, but it isn't always happy and easy-going.
