Summary of a Military child

Being a military child has its own pros and cons. When one, or both, of your parents are in the military you have to move around a lot for most people. Most of the time it’s 3 or 4 years but it changes from time to time. This has a lot of mixed feelings like having to start over a whole new life and school but you also get new experiences and meet new people. The military parent also has to go TDY or deploy to somewhere leaving the other parent having to take care of lots of responsibilities and their kids. But, these also come to new and fun experiences like exploring new countries. I live in Belgium and I didn’t want to go at first because I thought it would be very hard because of the new languages and not knowing anyone, plus I’ve never been out of North America before and all of my family lives there. However, I found out that I love to travel. I went to France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and more countries ever since I moved! I met many new friends from different countries and of different cultures. I got to learn more about Europe and had fun along the way. There are also amazing stories you get to tell about traveling to different countries. In conclusion, being a military child has many emotions, happy, sad, mad, nervous, etc. but you learn many new things and maybe even life lessons, you get new experiences and find new people. Thank you, KS.
