Making new friends as a military child.

Wren s,

Life as a military child is tough at first. It can be weird sometimes, but there are so many amazing things about being one. One positive is that you get to experience so much more. You also get to experience many places like Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and so many others. You can also experience so many more cultures and it is amazing. The second positive thing is that you meet and make so many friends from all over the world. In my school 55 % percent are European and I know many Spanish girls that I am close with, but sometimes it's hard to move from a place you've known your whole life. I grew up in America, it was hard moving and hard making new friends. I had left many of my old friends in the past and really didn't want to leave anyone else. I went to my first military school and it was nothing like I would ever expect. It was such a weird experience and everyone was so welcoming and so kind. I made friends on the first day. That follow year was one of the hardest years of my life, My friend who I was super close with left. It hurt and I thought I would never meet anyone like that again, but when I moved I made great friends. I will never forget all the people I have left in my life, but each place I move will be a new experience for me and my family. Then I realized why they were that way: they had all experienced the same thing. They were very welcoming because they knew how it felt to be a new kid. That's what makes being a military kid so special, we are all united in one way. It doesn't matter where we are from, it's our ability to adapt and be so welcoming. That's why being a military kid is scary at first but in the end it can be the best thing you've ever experienced.
