More than 1.6 Million Children from the U.S. are military children. The average move rate for those children throughout their school years (K-12) is estimated to be around 6-9 moves. Just those statistics alone mean that every military child lives in an area for a max of 1-3 years. The average normal U.S. child moves schools 0-2 times in their whole lifetime. Significantly lower than what the average military child is faced with every single year. Military Children are faced with this dreadful move whenever their parents are subjected to a PCS. However, throughout these trials and tribulations, these children gain meaningful experiences and friends throughout their lives. These children grow to become resilient and tend to face challenges head-on. The resiliency these military children grow shapes their future and how they handle life in the future. These children grow to become doctors, nurses, scientists, firefighters, pilots, or join the service to carry on their family legacy. Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard Blues, Army Greens, and Marine reds mesh to create the color purple, the color of the military child. The never-ending cycle of starting over again and again is difficult for us military children. But like a dandelion, military children are able to keep going no matter how hard life gets and stand tall against whatever life decides to throw at them.
