2024/Carmen-

Hi, my name is Carmen and I’m 11 years old. In this essay I will talk about what it's like being a military child. I currently live in Okinawa, and I go to Zukeran Elementary.

Challenges I’ve had as a military child are, leaving friends and moving. This is a challenge for me because when my friends leave, I get sad because I know that I will probably never see them again. Moving is a challenge for me because I get nervous while on the plane and I don't know if I will like my next school.

The celebrations of being a military child are moving after a long time. Moving after a long time is exciting because when you are stationed somewhere you'll be there for about 2-7 years so moving somewhere new will be exciting. Also you can make new friends.

I have had moved around a lot. I lived in California for 5 years, North Carolina for 3 years, and Okinawa for 3 years too. I think moving 3 times is a lot because some people don't move at all, which I think is crazy. I am so grateful to be able to move to new places.

My advice is to think of the positives instead of the negatives because when you think positive you won't be sad.

In conclusion, being a military child will always have its ups and downs, but mainly ups because being a military child is awesome!
