2024/Drake-

Month of the Military Child

Hi my name is Drake. I am 11 years old and I will be explaining the challenges, experiences, advice, and sharing the places I have visited, as well as sharing the things I also celebrate.

Fun things about being a military child, is that you get to go places you have never been to before. For example, I have lived in North Carolina, California, Virgina, and now I am in Okinawa, Japan.

Some little celebrations I have are when I get to see my new house and sometimes get to pick my room. I also look forward to meeting new people.

Some challenges that have come with being a military child are having to say goodbye to friends I have made when it's time to move. Another challenge is having to pack all of my stuff up when PCS time is approaching. A new challenge I have experienced is moving to a new place that doesn’t speak English. People in Okinawa, Japan speak Japanese so it is a little difficult trying to communicate with them.

Experiences I have had include learning about different cultures, and communities. You can see new people and may become friends.

It is hard moving and going to new places. And not seeing friends is sad and not seeing places you like. It is not bad moving it is fun you might see friends you can see places you might like.
