2024/Eloise-

Hi, I am Eloise. I live in Okinawa, and I’m a military child. I am 10 years old, and I have a family of 6. Being a child with parents in the military can be fun. But it can also be hard.

I was born in Virginia and stayed there for three years. Next, I moved to Texas and stayed there for five years. After Texas, we moved to Okinawa. I have lived in Okinawa for one and a half years.

Being a military child comes with fun experiences. Some of those experiences are things like being able to go to different countries and getting to experience different cultures. Another good thing is you get to have friends all around the world. One more advantage is that you get to experience different schools around the world.

Although there are a lot of good things about being a military child there are also challenges like having to move away from friends, family and places you love. Another thing to deal with is your parents sometimes have to deploy.

As a military child you get to go to special places. I have been to Disneyland in Tokyo and Universal Studios in Osaka. Another special place we went to was the Churaumi Aquarium.

My advice to military children is to experience the culture and people around you. Not everyone gets to travel around the world. You are privileged and special even if you don't feel like it.
