2024/Gabrielle-

Hi, my name is Gabrielle but my friends call me Gabby. I am eleven years old, and I live in Okinawa.

One thing I like about being a military child is that you get to travel. I like traveling because wherever you go you might make new friends. I also get excited to go to new schools! Another thing is how different students from other schools are. Students have different personalities, and some are very different from where I came from, but eventually you get used to it.

As a military child, I have moved to many places. I moved to North Carolina and lived there for a short while. After, me and my family moved to Iwakuni where I lived for a longer period of time. Then, I moved to Okinawa and made my very first friend: Nevaeh! The school was very different from my old school, but I got used to it! Eventually I had to move to another school at a different camp and was nervous when I entered my room. Now, I am at Zukeran, and I have gotten used to it and made new friends!

Although being a military child has some downsides, there are always positives! Being a military child means you can do things other kids can’t do, like traveling the world and meeting new people. That is what is special about being a military child. We should be thankful to be military children!
