2024/James-

Hello my name is James. I am 10 years old and I was born in Okinawa. I have lived in two places: Okinawa, Japan and Jacksonville, North Carolina. I lived in Jacksonville for around 7 years and in Okinawa for around 3 years. I will be talking about the challenges and advantages of being a military child.

One of the worst parts of being a military kid is moving because you leave your friends, school, and all the stuff you love. Deployment is when a parent leaves to go somewhere in the world. This happened to me when I was 6 or 7 my dad left. It was very lonely without him.

There are many good parts to being a military kid, like moving. I said this was a bad thing but sometimes it is good! For example when you move you see the other cultures. Another good thing about being a military child is meeting new friends! You don’t have to move to meet new friends because sometimes they move to you. People come from all over the world. When you are in the military you can move almost anywhere.

For advice, you should try to get your friend's phone number or email. You or your friend might move and you won’t see or talk to them for a long time. Enjoy the place you are at. Some places have things others don’t, like Target. Lastly, be good with change because that will happen often as a military child.
