What Does it Means to be a Military Child

What does it mean to be a military child? Some might say that being a military child means that you get to go on all of these fun trips around the world. Well that is true, but being a military child to me means leaving your friends, changing schools, and finding new places to call home.

As a military child I have moved a whole lot too. I was born in Nevada, moved to Arkansas, then I was in Texas for four or five years before I went to South Carolina for six months. After I came back from South Carolina, we moved to Guam where I am now. I have left lots of friends throughout all of my moves, but I’ve stayed strong and brave.

When I moved here to Guam two years ago, I didn’t know what school I was going to or who was going to be there. I was super scared on the first day of third grade. Now I have amazing friends, teachers, and principals at my school, Andersen Elementary School.

It’s not just leaving friends and changing schools that’s hard, it's also hard finding a new place to call home. When my family goes to find a house to buy we call it “house hunting”. It is hard to find the perfect house because you are used to your old house. It can be very hard because you might be stuck in a hotel for two months.

In conclusion, being a military child is very hard while you move, change schools, and make new friends. If you are brave and stay strong you can get through the easy and the challenging times. This is what it means to be a military child to me.
