What is a military child? Being a military child can mean many different things, when you are a military child you travel all around frequently and see many different places and faces. A military child has parents that serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and they protect you and all of our country. When you are a military child it is hard, you may go many different places and sometimes there is a downside. You leave your friends that you have had and you make friends and lose them. I have had that happen to me lots of times and it most definitely is hard.

Being a person that travels can be awesome! You get to see many places around the world and see monuments and more interesting things. There are so many places around the world to go that are awesome and just make you want to stay. But, it also is hard, even though you do start to enjoy the place you are living, you always have to go. Sometimes for me it feels like I leave right away! This is why being a military child can be hard. So being a military child does have its ups and downs, and it also can create mixed feelings.

A military connected child has parents who are either in the service or their parents just affiliated with the military. So, usually the kids go to DoDEA schools that are all around the world. A lot of the time their parents are deployed. It is hard having your parents being gone for so long, sometimes they're deployed for a couple of months but other times for a year or even longer. But, when the parent that left comes back it can be exciting and an emotional time, so having a parent that’s in the military can be hard yet exciting.

When you go all around the world you make new friends and go to different schools. The friends you meet, and the ones that are like your best friends, you feel like you never want to leave that place and always be with that friend all the time. You always have your time to play with that friend, but when you're a military child you have these friends that you almost always have to leave and to say goodbye to things that you love. But, even though you have to leave you still can have time to be with that friend whether at home or at school or at any other place. Even though it’s hard to leave you still can have plenty of fun while you're still there, just enjoy yourself.

In conclusion, being a military child is a fun experience and will be fun for you. You don’t always need to focus on when you're going to leave, just have fun and don’t worry. Even though there are some downs to being a military child, you don’t need to worry about those things. To be honest I love being a military child, it’s a great adventure. I think that it’s not bad being a military child, it can be a fun experience.
