Life as a military is tough, but it can come with awesome experiences throughout your life. Leaving your friends is tough to go through, but you can meet more along the way. There are so many benefits to having a life like this. Along with its disadvantages when moving.
The positive side of being a military child is meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures. Moving to new places is awesome! You can see so many different things and eat different foods! It's really nice, personally I have been to some of the most amazing places outside of America, like Italy, England, and Japan. And my family hopes to continue our adventure out of america. I have also been to many different schools, all with different students and teachers. And meeting new friends.
But it's not easy leaving your friends behind, I only stay in places for around three years then I move. It feels like I finally get settled in then we move! It's really hard having to leave your best friends behind. But I stay in contact with them. Moving is even a pain too! Having to wait for your stuff to arrive and going on who knows how long airplanes. But it always turns out great. That's why I always look on the bright side of moving and traveling. No matter what!
If you grab a metaphoric scale and weigh all of the advantages and disadvantages of being a military child you would realise that they are quite equal. There are not many disadvantages or advantages, but they weigh the same on my metaphoric scale. I have not finished being a military child but sometimes I look forward to moving somewhere and staying there. Sometimes I don't miss the cool places I have been. My dad works in the air force as an optometrist (eye doctor) while my mom stays home and takes care of my siblings and I.
In conclusion, being a military child is great, I really like it. But sometimes I don’t,but I don’t mind it. I focus on the bright side of moving and leaving friends. Because they will always be with me in my heart. Funny thing is I still remember my first friend ever! So I have learned many things, and I love sharing my experiences with others and I will always try to have a positive mindset on being a military child.
