Story from the diary of a military child

We were moving to Japan. I was in the middle of the second grade, and I was extremely nervous. From my countless moves, it never gets easier. It was my birthday and we were in the airport. My mom kept on joking on how I was going to have a half birthday. I giggled. We were in the USO, which we had spent the night on the floor of. We were going to spend the night in the playroom I remember being attached to, but it was a childish image, and my family ended up in the tv room. I had a donut in the morning. They had those for free! I remember getting so excited getting this new book light I still use today. I didn’t get much, but I will always remember this birthday.
