Life as a Military child has both its upsides and downsides. It is an experience that can only be experienced in your early years. Lots of people say it's great. While others say it's terrible. I'm kinda in between. I have a love and hate relationship that I will explain with this short writing.
There are a lot of upsides to being a military child. You get to travel all across the world. Being a military child has taken me places people could only wish to experience. You get to meet such a diverse group of people from all corners of the world. I’ve met people from sides of the world I would probably never be able to visit. Having a diverse group of people lets you learn about so many different cultures and ideas.
There is one big apparent downside to being a military child. The friends you made in these different parts of the world will be gone when you end up moving away. Being a military child ensures that you won’t have a permanent group of friends you can rely on. This also stems into another idea that you won't have a childhood area that you grew up in. I myself have been lucky enough to experience that. I've lived probably 70-80% of my life in Okinawa, and can comfortably say it is where I grew up in my childhood and on.
