Transitioning from having a civilian life to be a military child was very big and different for me. Never in my life when i was a civilian child i thought i would move across the world from where I grew up. Coming to Okinawa which was a huge culture shock to me. It was so bad that i was just finding out about different ethnicities and cultures that i never heard about before. My whole life I grew up around hispanics and African Americans, so coming to my new school Kubasaki it was so different. It was so different in so many ways with the people that go to the school, the way people dress here and talk. It was so new and overwhelming to me, this was also the first time I was in a school that had lots of funding. This is probably one of the nicest schools i've been to in my whole life, because the teachers actually care about your learning here. Versus in California a lot of the school materials were very old and ready to be replaced but my school didn't get a lot of funding; also a lot of the teachers were rude and didn't really care about you or taught well. School in california was also very different because the people there were very problematic and would want to fight for any little things. And the students were very disrespectful, here in kubi you don't really see that at all.
