Military Child

Life as a military child can be difficult at times but can also be very fun. The most challenging part is having to move every few years and constantly losing friends because of them moving too. When you are a military child, it makes it more difficult to keep long lasting friendships and relationships with people. I've had to move away from some of the best people I've met in my life and that just makes everything so much harder for me. I've only kept in touch with one of my friends over the years and I’ve known him for around 6 years; he is truly like a brother to me. I haven't seen him for most of the time that we have been friends because I only started to become friends with him around a year before I moved. Now that we both live far from each other, the time zones limit how often I’m actually able to talk to him.

Despite the challenges, being a Military Child can also be fun because you get to see very different places since you are constantly moving. I’ve been able to live in Japan these last few years because I am a military child, and I acknowledge the fact that I am very lucky I get to live here; so many people would love to live or even visit Japan, and I get to live so many people's dreams. The bases you live on might also have a lot of interesting things to do in your free time because some people who don't live on bases live where there is nothing to do. Being a Military Child can also be fun because you get to talk to people that have been through similar experiences, but you also can learn about the places that they have lived in.
