One of the best things about living on or near a military base is that it is most likely safe. You get to experience a cool life, especially if you travel overseas or the base you live on is overseas. I have been lucky enough to be given experiences such as seeing Japan and getting to experience life outside of America in a foreign country. I am privileged because I can do a lot of things that people in America don't get to do. Another great thing about being a military child is that you get opportunities in school because the schools here are very nice. They care for you and try their best to help you because they want you to be successful. You can always meet new people and make new friends. My family was previously stationed in North Carolina Cherry Point for a couple of years, and then we came here to Iwakuni, and we plan to stay here until I graduate from high school. While there are so many advantages to this life, there are still challenges. I think the biggest challenge of living on or near a military base in a foreign country is adjusting to life and meeting new people, and just adjusting to living in a different culture compared to America. Making new friends can be difficult for some people because as you get older it is more complicated to make friends. So here is some advice I have for other military kids: just try to make new friends. It may take a while to adjust but you will make it through. You just have to trust the process.
