A Letter To A Farther Form A Son

Dear Dad,

I hope this letter finds you safe and well on the front lines. I can only imagine what you’re going through, and I want you to know how proud I am of you. Your bravery and dedication inspire me every day.

Things back home are good. Mom is holding things together like she always does, and we’ve been keeping busy. I’ve taken up running again; it’s a great way to clear my mind. I sometimes think about how you used to jog with me when I was younger, always encouraging me to push myself a little further. I’d love to have you back home to go for a run together again.

I often find myself thinking about all the stories you’ve shared with me about your experiences. They remind me of the strength that comes from resilience. I know these days can be tough, but I hope you’re finding moments of peace in between the chaos. Remember to take care of yourself, no matter how busy things get.

It is chaotic at home, but it just doesn’t feel the same when you're not here. I am still in martial arts and I love it. At school, it is fine because I have things to distract me from missing you but when I am not at school or doing something I sometimes have the feeling that you got hurt and that you may not come back, but I know that you would try everything in your power to come home to your family and I thank you for that. And yet I wonder how did you do it. How did you go this long without seeing your family? How was your deployment, what did you do most of the time you were deployed? I guess I just miss you and I wish I could see you.

Stay safe, Dad. I can’t wait until you come home, and we can catch up on everything. Until then, know that I’m thinking of you every day.

With all my love,

Adrian
