We all have friends,

Friends that are close,

Who are our best friends.

Friends that we just know,

Who are not that close;

But still, a good friend.

We also have our favorite places.

It could be your home,

A family member’s home,

The school,

A restaurant,

Or a park with swings and sunshine—

All these spots mean so much to us.

As a military child,

I move,

Which makes me lose my home,

My friends, and my favorite places.

But I gain a new world:

New homes, new schools, new friends.

All these puzzle pieces of my life

Come together to form a new story,

While the things I left behind

Fade gently into memories.
