I am from the place of Christmas markets, From deep pools and trees. I am from the markets under the moon. It smelled like fried chicken. I am from the land of The Morning Calm, The land of sunrise and sunset Whose kindness and niceness I remember As if they were my own.
I am from trains and temples, From Trung and Linh. I am from honesty And the kindness, From “Stop.” and “You’re too loud!” I am from the Land of the Lucky With a soccer ball And ten goals I can do myself.
I’m from cold snow and warm summers, Big houses and good food. From the night lost to the stars To the red box used to keep in my room Under my bed was a piggy bank spilling green money, A purple box of books To drift beneath my dreams. I am from those moments - Slept before I woke up I am a leaf growing from the family tree. - Inspired by George Ella Lyon
