It smelled like fresh cut grass.

I am from the Entertainment Capital of the World

The Sierras and signs

Whose bright neon lights I remember

As if they were my own.

I am from the Colosseum and Parthenon

From MSgt and Advocate.

I am the interesting and the honest,

From the funny and smart.

I am the bored,

With a pencil and paper

And ten doodles I can draw myself.

I'm from desert cacti and creosote bushes,

Red rocks and gleaming copper.

From the Hopi lost to the Hoover Dam

To the Medjool dates used to keep the farmers.

Under my bed was a book spilling photos,

A bunch of memories.

I am from those moments -

Elated before I said farewell.

I am a purple dandelion growing from the family tree.
