As I sit back and unpack What made me I salute The Air Force, Army, and Navy
Who knew Grandpa would Set the stage for the rest of us Thank you, because In ‘07 I was born in Germany
But the world raised me And gave me An optimistic spirit But deep in inside Where I truly reside:
Granny’s voice still makes me smile Through letters And everytime I hear it
“I miss you baby, I pray you’re having fun over there.” As my heart slowly begins to wear
Everything happens for a reason People come and go like the seasons In the spring, my tears soak the roots As the Cherry Blossoms bloom
Every year the month comes around Really reminding me to not wear a frown That I should be proud of our service to this country But does this country appreciate our servitude? The red, white, and blue that waves in the air A crazy looking suit that only Uncle Sam would wear Striping family, friends, and loved ones with every stroke it breaths
But hey, no controversy Hate to release a side That’d be distasteful of me
At 5pm the national Anthem Is the only tune That makes people stop And the sounds of Wham Wake me up when it’s time to Go-Go
“Where are you from?” I’m from nowhere and everywhere All at once However that’d be difficult To tell someone Who lacks the passport stamps Proving where they were once.
