I was once a rapid current

Flowing continuously, always in motion

To reach a never ending destination,

A current, whose purpose is movement, not rest.

Each new place, a bend unknown to my will.

Each goodbye is a ripple I may never experience again.

I used to wonder what it is like,

To settle like lakes beneath the trees—

To lay dormant in the comfort of still waters.

But I was born into motion,

And I have become fluid with change.
